New Delhi: Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor may have ripped 6-pack abs today, but there was a time when he was a flabby teenager. The actor, who is rumoured to be dating Malaika Arora, struggled with obesity, weighing about 140 kilos. He wasn’t just obese, but was also inactive, grumpy, asthmatic, and could not run continuously for 10 seconds. It is learnt the Arjun nearly shed some 50 kilos before making his Bollywood debut with the romantic movie ‘Ishaqzaade’in 2012.

Perhaps, Arjun’s ‘fat-to-fit transformation has been no secret. The handsome hunk has won zillion of hearts not just with his acting skills but also his chiselled physique. Apparently, Arjun was inspired by none other than fitness icon Salman Khan who motivated and guided him to lose weight and become an actor. Initially, he lost 10 kilos within a month’s time. Arjun, who is a foodie by nature, followed religiously the diet chart prepared by his nutritionist, including making healthier food choices, in order to lose weight successfully. He gave up junk food and kept away from overeating. Earlier, he could eat as many as six burgers at once, however, he now eats healthy. He also avoids high carb and sugary foods and includes healthier options such as fresh fruits and vegetables in his diet. It is said that the actor followed a high-protein diet while trying to lose weight. Here’s what Arjun’s meal chart looks like:

  • Breakfast: 4-6 egg whites, one egg yolk, toast
  • Lunch: Bajra roti or chappatis made of wheat flour, veggies, dal, chicken
  • Post-workout snack: protein shake
  • Evening snacks: Fresh fruits like pineapples, strawberries
  • Dinner: Chicken or fish, rice or quinoa

Arjun Kapoor’s workout routine for 6-pack abs

It’s a well-known fact that getting into shape and having that ripped and chiselled body is not easy. Similarly, Arjun had to follow a rigorous fitness regime, which helped him succeed in shedding the pounds. The ‘2 States’ actor regularly worked out for 6 days a week to achieve his weight loss goals. Within the first year, he was able to lose 22 kgs. After losing the excess weight, he started his Crossfit and heavy weight training to gain muscle and tone his body. For ‘Gunday’, Arjun trained for five times a week for 60-90 minutes each day under the guidance of Harry Ranson. The actor also worked with fitness trainer Kyle Arthur who introduced him to RAW28, a complete mixture of functional, strength, and endurance training.

Arjun Kapoor’s workout plan for a toned physique includes the following –

  • Weight training
  • Cardio exercises
  • Circuit training
  • CrossFit
  • Bench presses, deadlifts, squats, and pull-ups
